Twas' the day of the Oscars, and all through the country, everyone was arguing and pretending they knew everything.  That's why ETSN is here to give you the run down on who's taken home the hardware tonight.

Best Picture:

Nominees: Slumdog Millionaire, Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, The Reader, Milk.
Prediction: Slumdog Millionaire is the winner here, out of all the nominees this one just has that feeling, everything clicked in this movie, a surprisingly great story with fantastic actors, it's just one of those times where the right people were involved and every aspect meshed perfectly.

Director:

Nominees: David Fincher (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon), Gus Van Sant (Milk), Stephen Daldry (The Reader), Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)
Prediction:This is a tough category, because these are all great director's, and great films. But based on previous achievments, and the fact that favorited Danny Boyle relied more on the material than his actual talent, we believe David Fincher should take the prize. Benjamin Button was a technical and ground breaking filming achievment and was Fincher's love child from the get go, his vision is what made this movie.

Best Actor:

Nominees: Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Sean Penn (Milk), Brad Pitt (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
Prediction: This is a battle between Mickey Rourke and Frank Langella, on one hand Langella's portrayl of Nixon was spot on, but you could say that he is just a good impersonator, where as Rourke made you believe that he was a has-been wrestler with family problems. So it's Rourke FTW in our books.

Supporting Actor:

Nominees: Josh Brolin (Milk), Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt), Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight), Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road)
Prediction: This is the easiest category, Heath Ledger all the way, no explanation needed just watch The Dark Knight.

P.S. Why the hell is the dude playin the dude thats playin the dude disguised as another dude, even nominated?

Actress and Supporting Actress:

First off your probably wondering why this is grouped into one category, well that's because we believe Kate Winslet deserves both awards - yes we know she wasn't even nominated for the supporting, but her portrayal of the ex-nazi guard sex machine in The Reader was incredible, and she was perfect as the 50's desperate housewife alongside DiCaprio in Revolutionary Road. I see the academy giving her the Best Actress, and letting the supporting go to Penelope Cruz, but that's because of sheer politics not because Cruz is a better choice.

Best Actress Nominees: Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Angelina Jolie (Changeling), Melissa Leo (Frozen River), Meryl Streep (Doubt), Kate Winslet (The Reader)
Supporting Role Nominees: Amy Adams (Doubt), Penelope Cruz (
Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Viola Davis (Doubt), Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button), Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler)

Original Screenplay and Animated Feature:

Once again we grouped these two together because both awards should go to Wall-E. This Pixar gem was terribly overlooked as a best picture nominee and we hope the academy is smart enough to give its praise in these categories. Bolt and Kung Fu Panda are really no match on the animated side, though great movies in their own right, Pixar just has the formula down pact and it's still gonna take a few years for the other animation studios to catch up. In Bruges is another original screenplay that has a chance of winning, but like we said Wall-E need's it's credit.
Original Screenplay Nominees: Courtney Hunt (Frozen River), Mike Leigh (Happy-Go-Lucky), Martin McDonagh (In Bruges), Dustin Lance Black (Milk), Andrew Stanton, Jim Reardon, Pete Docter (WALL-E)
Animated Feature Nominees: Bolt, Kung Fu Panda, Wall-E.
